(WASHINGTON, D.C.) – U.S. Senator Byron Dorgan (D-N.D.) said Monday he discussed flooding in North Dakota at a meeting this afternoon with President Obama and Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel at the White House. Dorgan described the flooding threat on the Red River and several other areas in the region, and the President promised the full cooperation of the Administration to wage the flood fight.
Dorgan and a number of Senate colleagues met with the President to discuss the economic crisis. But Dorgan also brought up the spring floods that are affecting communities in the Red River Valley, Devils Lake, and across North Dakota.
“I wanted to use the opportunity of this meeting today to make sure the President is fully aware of the flood fight that is going on in our region of the country,” Dorgan said. “The President pledged total cooperation of the federal agencies to help meet this flood threat.”
