(WASHINGTON, D.C.) --- Senators Byron Dorgan and Kent Conrad and Congressman Earl Pomeroy will hold regional meetings in Valley City and Jamestown this Saturday, June 20, to discuss the impact of flooding in those areas and what can be done to prepare for high water in the future.

North Dakota experienced unprecedented flooding across the state this spring, and many communities are still recovering. The meetings will help the Congressional delegation and local officials outline what happened in the flood fight this year, the status of the recovery effort, and what can be done to minimize the threat of flooding in the future.

The delegation has invited officials from across the Sheyenne River region, including the communities of Valley City, Lisbon, Fort Ransom and Kindred and Barnes and Ransom counties, for a meeting on Saturday, June 20, at 8:00 AM at the Ag Country Credit Services Building, 220 Winter Show Road SW, Valley City.

At 11:30 AM, the delegation will meet with officials from Stutsman, LaMoure and Dickey counties, and communities on the James River including Jamestown, LaMoure and Oakes at the Stutsman County Law Enforcement Center, 205 6th Street SE, Jamestown.

“A number of our North Dakota communities saw significant damage from flooding this spring, and it’s critical that we take a hard look at the needs of these communities and what we can do to address them,” the delegation said in a joint statement. “These meetings are an important step in that process.”
